About
this project
The
Completing the Loop project aims to demonstrate the potential of
ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) in social housing and, in particular,
those properties that are off the gas network to
•
Reduce fuel poverty for tenants and deliver affordable warmth
• Reduce emissions of CO2
GSHP
technology is proven; it is a ‘standard’, commonplace
option in other countries (e.g. the USA and parts of Scandinavia).
However, there are relatively few GSHP installations in this country
at the moment, although there are market developments which are
now making the use of GSHP technology viable here in the UK. By
working with social landlords and their tenants, this project will
show that there is a place for GSHPs in UK social housing in both
new build and existing properties. Please also see the project flyer here.
This
project is part-funded by the EST’s
Innovation programme.
